【 Description 】

This melting clock pattern is inspired by Salvador Dalí’s surrealism art and a retro futuristic aesthetic. Moving away from traditional flat structures, this 2.0 version uses an oval expansion technique combined with organic short row shaping to create a heavy, viscous silhouette that looks as if time is dripping right down your wall. You also have total freedom to surface crochet your own warped numerals, making every piece one of a kind. With its fluid, liquid like edges, you can use this piece in two ways: display it directly as a striking piece of fiber art wall sculpture, or add a clock movement to turn it into a real, functional piece of surrealism.  

【 Materials 】

• Yarn:

  • Clock Base: Worsted weight cotton yarn (e.g., Lily Sugar'n Cream)  

  • Frame: Worsted weight yarn in a contrasting color  

  • Numerals: Fine or sport weight yarn (Soft wool yarn recommended for smooth numerals)  

• Hook: 3.5 mm crochet hook (US E/4)  

• Notions: Tapestry needle, scissors, and fiberfill stuffing (for hanging ring)  

• Hardware: Clock movement (shaft length of at least 10 mm recommended)  

• Optional: White PVA glue / fabric stiffener for blocking

• Tension & Functionality: Gauge is not strictly critical, but working with a tight, even tension is key. Keeping the clock face flat ensures the hands move smoothly without getting stuck on the textured surface.  

• Freeform Sculpting: Feel free to treat the liquid edge section as a general guide. You can experiment with different stitches and short-row placements to create your own unique dripping contours.  

• Numerals Placement: For balanced proportions, surface-crochet the anchor numbers (12, 6, 3, and 9) first before spacing out the remaining digits.
